What It Does
QRFixer Optical Scanner is a dual-engine, client-side decoder engineered to extract raw payloads from 2D matrix symbols (QR codes, Data Matrix) and standard 1D linear barcodes (Code 128, EAN-13, UPC-A). Utilizing modern HTML5 WebRTC camera APIs and local canvas image rasterization, this utility interprets optical patterns directly on your device CPU. You can read damaged labels, verify printed packaging codes, inspect Wi-Fi credentials, and test web redirection links without downloading third-party mobile applications or uploading sensitive data to cloud servers.
How to Use It
- Choose an Input Mode: Select Live Camera to scan physical objects in real-time, Upload Image File to decode existing photos or screenshots, or Paste Screenshot to parse images directly from your clipboard.
- Present the Code: If using a camera, align the target code within the viewfinder box. If using clipboard mode, simply press
Ctrl + V(Windows) orCmd + V(Mac). - Inspect the Decoded Payload: The scanner immediately displays the raw decoded text, symbology format, and character length.
- Interact with Data: Click Open URL to visit decoded web links safely in a new tab, or click Copy Payload to copy credentials to your clipboard.
Who It Is For
This tool serves IT support specialists verifying enterprise badge credentials, retail warehouse managers inspecting product SKUs on desktop computers, software developers testing encoded endpoint strings, and everyday consumers looking to quickly read a QR code from their computer screen without searching for their smartphone.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I scan a QR code directly from a computer screen without a phone?
Yes. Simply take a screenshot of the code on your monitor (using the Snipping Tool on Windows or Shift+Command+4 on Mac), click the Paste Screenshot tab, and press Ctrl+V. The engine decodes the clipboard bitmap instantly.
Are my webcam video frames or uploaded screenshots sent to your servers?
No. Both camera stream processing and uploaded image decoding execute locally inside your browser via WebAssembly and JavaScript canvas rasterization. No video frames, images, or decoded text are ever transmitted to or stored on external servers.
Why is my camera not activating when I click Start Camera?
Ensure you have granted your web browser permission to access your webcam or device camera. Look for the camera permission icon in your browser address bar and select "Allow". Camera access also requires a secure HTTPS connection.
Which barcode and matrix types can this decoder recognize?
The dual-engine system decodes standard 2D QR codes (Model 2, Micro QR) as well as standard 1D linear retail and logistics barcodes including Code 128, EAN-13, UPC-A, Code 39, and ITF-14.
Is it safe to open web links decoded from unknown QR codes?
Always inspect the decoded URL in the payload box before opening it. Our tool renders the full text string so you can verify the destination domain name and avoid malicious phishing redirects.
Is this scanner completely free to use?
Yes. The scanner is 100% free to use with no daily scan limits, no user registrations, and no software installations required.
